I guess I knew a lot of what was said in today’s lecture through my school education but also through the weekly readings, mainly in Barker’s writings.
I’d never heard about the history being divided in six periods with specific modes of production. It’s interesting to see that communism is supposed to be the finality of humankind, the accomplishment of all. I heard or read from French analysts, that the socio-economic system in France is “diluted communism”, or that it is what the USSR would have become if it has “worked”. This class brought to my attention how much Marxism has influenced the French culture; we can see traces of it everywhere. And yet, it is far from being a utopia. Very very far.
I think human nature is too corrupt to live out this kind of society.
